Samdrup Jongkhar

Known as the gateway to eastern Bhutan, this region is located in the south eaten region of Bhutan and shares its borders with the Indian state of Assam. It is also the largest urban centre in eastern Bhutan which used to serve as the main trading centre for trades between Bhutan and India. Samdrup Jongkhar also has one of the newest dzongs in the country and it is included in the plans of the Government to be developed as one of the tourist hotspots within the country. Some of the attractions are the Mithun Breeding Farm, Dewathang and the local town.
