Farming Tour (5 DAYS/4 NIGHTS)

Kindly be at the check-in counter at least 2 hours ahead of your flight departure time. Your

check-in luggage limit is 30kg on Economy Class / 40kg on Business Class and hand luggage

must not exceed 5kg.

DAY 1 PARO ARRIVAL – THIMPHU (-/L/D) (65km, about 1 hours)

On arrival at Paro international airport you will be received by a representative of Bhutan Raewa Travels

who will be waiting outside the arrival terminal of the Airport holding a placard with your name on it. The

representative will be your guide for the duration of the tour and will welcome you in a traditional

manner by offering a khadar (greeting scarf).

Drive to Thimphu city, the capital of Bhutan which is at an elevation of 2,350 m / 7700 ft. Urbanization

began here when Thimphu was proclaimed as a national capital in 1952 and the Dechenchoeling Palace

was built at this time. Even today the city retains its ethnic architectural style and is the only capital in

the world with no traffic lights. Yet unlike other capital cities in the world, Thimphu remains essentially

pastoral in character and changes its demeanor with the seasons.

On arrival, check into the hotel dsuit D2 Yarkay.

After Lunch you will be taken for a short sightseeing tour around Thimphu town. During this tour you will

visit:

– Drive to see the Takin Preserve, which houses the national animal, the Takin.

– Visit Buddha point known popularly known as Kuensel Phodrang which has a 160 feet statue

of The Present Buddha- Buddha Sakya Muni (Sha cha Thupa). This is one of the biggest statues

of Buddha in the World. From here on can get a beautiful view of the Capital city, Thimphu.

– Walk around Memorial Chhorten in Thimphu built in 1974 in memory of the Third King His

Majesty Jigme Dorji Wangchuck who passed away in 1972. The Memorial Chhorten is one of the

most visible religious structures in Thimphu, and for many people it is the focus of their daily

worship.

– Visit Tashichhodzong, whose history dates back to the 13th century, wherein houses His

Majesty’s Throne Room and is the summer home to the Monastic Body.

Evening you will have a free time to walk around Thimphu Town.

DAY 2 THIMPHU – PARO – THIMPHU (B/L/D) (65km, about 1

hours)

Morning after breakfast, we will drive you to Paro which is a 65 KM drive. With wealthy history and

traditions, Paro is the place where the sun and time stay stationary. Paro district is not only known for its

amazing scenario, land scape and artefacts but also it is popularly is considered as one of the first farm

mechanized Districts in Bhutan with the majority of the population relying on farming. The major crops

grown in Paro are paddy, wheat, asparagus and potato. Farmers also produce vegetables such as chilli,

broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, tomato, bringer and green leaves in a large scale for commercial purposes.

Below given are the activities for the day:

– Visit to a valley so called Shaba.

– See the type of landscapes that the farmers of Paro cultivate crops.

– See the progress on the farm mechanization in Paro.

– See the traditional farming tools that the farmers use Bullocks, spades, Hoes and Sickles.

– Have some photography session in those field and also with the farmers.

Depart for lunch in Paro Town.

After lunch, we will do some short sight-seeing in the following given below:

– Visit to Paro vegetable Market which is located in Bondey Paro.

– Visit to the handicrafts in the main town of Paro.

In the evening, we will drive back to Thimphu.

Overnight at hotel – dusitD2 Yarkay Thimphu.

Day 3 THIMPHU – PUNAKHA – THIMPHU (B/L/D) (77km, about 3

hours)

Morning after breakfast we will drive to Punakha valley (the old capital of the country) via the Dochula

Mountain pass (3,140 m). Punakha was the capital of Bhutan until 1955 and is also best known for its

significant rice production both red and white rice. On the other hand chilli is one of the major cash crops

in Punakha and the farmers of Punakha produce the earliest chilli in Bhutan.

Below given are the activities for the day:

– Visit to a typical village so called Ritsha where the houses are made up of pounded mud with

stone based foundation. This village is only 1 kilometer away from Punakha to Gasa highway.

– See the various farming fields such as wet land and dry land.

– See how the farm mechanization has changed the life of the villagers.

– See how the farmers utilize their ancient tools such as Bullocks, spades, Hoes and Sickles.

– Have some photography session in those field and also with the farmers.

Depart for lunch in Punakha town (Khuru)

After lunch, we will do some short sight-seeing in the following given below:

– Visit to vegetable Market which is located in Khuru.

– On returning to Thimphu, we will stop at Chimi Lhakhang for some short sight-seeing and

photography.

Then we will proceed to Thimphu.

Day 4 THIMPHU – CHHUKHA – THIMPHU (B/L/D) 1 hour 30

After an early breakfast we will dive to Chhapcha which is under Chhukha Dzongkhag. Earlier it is a 4

hour journey but after the completion of bypass high way from Thimphu to Phuntsholing, the journey is

way shorten to one and half hours. The people of chapcha are considered the wealthiest since they

produce potatoes in a very large scale. (Chew) is the native term for potato. Not only potatoes, they also

produce all the nine varieties of cash crops (Dru-Na-Gu) such as rice, wheet, barley, peas, millet,

mustard, soybeans and two kinds of buck wheets. Most of the valleys in chapcha are in dispersed

settlements and the landscapes is normally a gentle slopes.

Below given are the activities for the day:

– Visit to a humble village in Chapcha so called Bunagu where it is the residence of second mind

reincarnation of the greatest Lama Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal namely, Zhabdrung Jigme

Drakpa

– See how the farmers cultivate potatoes in such typical landscapes.

– See the progress on the farm mechanization.

– See the traditional farming tools that the farmers use such as Bullocks, spades, Hoes and Sickles.

– Have some photography session in those field and also with the farmers.

– Visit the residency (Lhakhang) of Zhabdrung Jigme Drakpa.

Depart for lunch in town (Tsimakothi)

After lunch, we will do some short sight-seeing in the following given below:

– Visit to vegetable Market which is located in Tsimakothi.

– Do some short sight-seeing in Chhukha Dzong (Ngedruptse Dzong)

Then we will proceed to Thimphu.

Day 5 THIMPHU – PARO – DEPARTURE (B/-/-)

After breakfast your guide will escort you to the airport for your flight onwards.
